After 35years of teaching in four African countries and producing students who are doctors, lawyers and even ministers of state, N. Dr. Obrumankoma Akyeampong finally settled in Ghana with his wife to start Mayflower Preparatory School.
N. Dr. Obrumankoma Akyeampong was born on the 9th of October 1939 at Winneba. After completing his primary education, he proceeded to Fijai Secondary school for his O’Level and A’level certificate examination. He later enrolled in a specialist school after training college where he specialized in Chemistry.
He was appointed the head of the science department at St. Augustine’s college in Cape coast where he taught science for about four years. In his quest for greener pastures, he travelled with his wife and family to Liberia to teach.
Before the Liberian war, He moved his family to Nigeria to teach for some years. He later continued to Zambia to teach science again for five years. After twenty six years of teaching in other African countries, he decided to settle down and start a poultry farm. However, the community where he settled urged him to start a school due to his vast experience in the teaching field.

Dr. Flitz Williams (Renowned Medical Doctor and a Professor at the University of Ghana) congratulating Dr. Akyeampong for the good results produced during the first graduation ceremony.
His love for science and mathematics ensured that students that passed through the school in its initial stage excelled wherever they went. His wife’s role cannot be downplayed. Her teaching experience gained over 35 years also ensured that a solid foundation was laid for pupils enrolled in the school. It was therefore of no suprise when the product of their hardwork began to pay off over the past three years: 99% of Mayflower graduants had aggregate one in science and mathematics.

Mr. Dzeketey (A parent) Congratulating Dr. Akyeampong during the first graduation when his son Felix Dzeketey made Presec, Legon against all odds.
